And So It Becomes

$1,000.00

by Lauren Browning

24” × 18” / Oil on Canvas

In And So It Becomes, I explore strength through change. The figure, standing tall in a red dress, reflects the passion and grace it takes to grow into something new. The title pays tribute to the constant act of becoming, the resilience it takes to evolve, again and again, into who we are meant to be.

What I love most about painting is the act of sitting with the subject. The quiet, deliberate closeness it invites. With each session, I’m not striving for perfection but something deeper, for the soul, the essence of a person. I study the hidden lines of a face, the upturn of a lip, the shape of a nose. I chase the warmth tucked in a cheekbone, the unexpected blues, purples, greens that hide beneath the skin. In this slow process of discovery, I aim to bring each subject to life. It’s a challenge I return to again and again, not out of ease but out of love. With each painting, I strive to really see someone, to capture who they are through color, and to let that connection unfold one brushstroke at a time.”
